Fir Tree - Abies

Fir Trees are conifers in the Abies genus and typically grow in cool high elevation mountains with a dense conical habit. They are ideal for tall borders and screens as well as focal plants in landscapes. Some species have bright colorful cones that decorate trees like Christmas ornmanents in the summer and others have bright colored foliage. Many varieties produce intense colors or have dwarf rounded habits that allow firs to fit into even the smallest landscapes. Some species perform well in hot climates while others prefer cool northern climates.
